Gay Anime actually began as Yaoi, a term for a category of cartoons that started in Japan and has various factions, including manga, doujinshi, and anime. Originally started as a fan art for young
Japanese girls, the boy - boy love themes soon found their way to the gay market and has developed further to become encompassing of gay erotic and sometimes very explicit sex between two guys. There seems to be some confusion concerning
the types of art that comprise Yaoi. Some people outside Asia, notably what is considered "the west" consider Yaoi to be the same as Shonen-ai or Boy Love. While Boy Love Shonen-ai does focus on boy-boy relationships,
the Yaoi version tends to be more sexually graphic.
More recently, many have started calling Yaoi, gay Hentai. Hentai is a word that simply means "of an odd appearance" or as some translate it, "perverted". Hentai has become a term synonymous with anime, manga, and yaoi or any other cartoon or computer
generated art that is sexually expl.icit. In general "hentai' is used to denote pornographic or sexually explicit animation art. Gay Hentai is the boy - boy version of very sexually graphic gay cartoon art. |
